Chinese New Year Dragons

The original idea was to do two projects-- Chinese New Year and something else.   Then we'd compare and contrast. Well, the something else never happened since it took my Grade 2's an astonishing 5 weeks to finish these!  They were so detail oriented and focused, I couldn't bear rush them along.  We watched videos of Chinese dragon dancers on Youtube, and we also figured out what their Chinese zodiac signs were- the kids were really into it.  Since this was an integrated unit with their classroom teachers, they had a pretty good grasp of various cultural celebrations and Chinese New Year in particular.
