PYP and TAB: how I do it

Embedding more choice in my PYP Art Room has been an ongoing journey for the last three years. There are numerous ways to use the TAB approach within the PYP, and I thought I would share what is working in my Grades 3-5 art room so far. Please keep in mind that there are links embedded in this first slide that will take you to more detailed information, YouTube videos and docs that I have created.

Many of the ideas in this presentation were adapted from the TAB educator Johanna Russell whose YouTube channel can be found here. If you are interested in sharing ideas with other PYP Art teachers who are in various stages of their TAB journey, please join our Facebook group to connect.

  1. WOW, I would love to work like you!!! Where are you teaching? And don't you think you need another Art teacher at your school? :-)

  2. Thanks for your kind words, Katarina. I am teaching at the KAUST School in Saudi Arabia. :) We are growing quickly and I will certainly put the word out when we are big enough for a 3rd art teacher in elementary-- definitely in the next few years. :)

  3. Fantastic post Kristin. The main reason why you've had the success you have had is that you continue to remain curious about your teaching and student learning. You continually adapt, modify, and create your own original touch on everything you do. I love the atmosphere in your classes and seeing all of the great learning. Well done!
