Kinder Shape Mice

The first kinder class completed their mice and they are so adorable.  I love this project because it was an appropriate level of scaffolding for this group of kindergarteners-- they had help making the basic mouse shape (pre-cut circles and squares for the body, ears, and eyes).  Once they experienced success with the basic mouse shape, they were confident enough to try the arms and legs themselves.

Today's class was the details: where does your mouse live?  What does he/she like to eat?  I am going to try conference with each child and get a sentence or two about each mouse to add to the big display.  With two weeks left until break and a lot of tired kids and teachers around, these little critters make me smile. :)
